Ms. January | Diagnosed at 30 (2018)
I am a wildflower. My roots are in Chicago, IL, full of strength, and support from my husband and cheer teams. I have experienced several seasons of change, as I have Stage IV Breast Cancer. However, my story is extremely unique due to my misdiagnosis. Originally, I was diagnosed with Stage III and treated entirely for a year and a half incorrectly until my cancer progressed. Then I had to experience all the seasons and changes all over again. Due to my misdiagnosis and near-death experiences, I am now on my fourth oncologist and medical care team. I nearly lost my life to a faulty port, and then a rare side effect of chemo. Thankfully, my support of Sunshine (aka Team Sunshine) my soulmate (husband), H4TG, and my incredible medical team of doctors have carried me through every storm I encounter. H4TG has been a lifesaver for me providing emotional and mental support throughout each challenge of Stage IV, and I have gained sisters that I never knew I needed. H4TG has also taught me support comes in many versions, and it can be a simple statement like “Hey, I am here for you”. In return for all the support I have been given, I support other warriors going through this diagnosis. Cancer has taught me to share my story, support other wildflowers, and continue to advocate for our hopeful community.
MY WORD: I AM AN ADVOCATE.
