At Here for the Girls, we say “it takes a village to raise a nonprofit,” and we are so grateful for our “village” of supporters who share their time, talents, and treasure with us to support our mission and the women we serve. From businesses and community organizations to individuals and families, we all work together to make a difference in the lives of young women with breast cancer and their families. If you’d like to join our village, here are some ways you can be “Here for the Girls” with us!
Our annual "Breast" Ball Golf Tournament at Kingsmill Resort is one of three primary fundraising events at Here for the Girls, and is a great opportunity for Hampton Roads regional businesses to work side-by-side to support a good cause. This event is a fun day of golf, course contests, prizes, raffles, food, friends, and fun! But it’s also a chance for attendees to learn more about the Here for the Girls mission and the women we serve.
Thursday, April 18th at Kingsmill Resort | Learn more about our sponsorship opportunities or contact us at email@example.com!
The Pink Carpet Gala is the organization’s annual signature event where the organization welcomes all supporters, members, and friends tied to the mission of supporting young women affected by breast cancer. We will celebrate the unveiling of A Calendar to Live By/Guide to Caring for Yourself during an intimate fundraising dinner and auction. The evening will be one of joyous and optimistic celebrations as we write the new narrative of our organization. Guests will interact with the powerful and empowering stories of our ambassadors while delving into the mission of the organization like never before.
Our 18th Annual Gala is scheduled for Friday, October 25th at The Maine of Williamsburg. Due to limited seating, this event is invitation only. If you are interested in sponsoring, hosting a table or being added to the invitation list please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
TowneBank presents the 15th annual Run for the Hills 5K/1 Mile Fun Run in Williamsburg, on the beautiful trails of New Town (starting at Sullivan Square located behind Legacy Hall, 4301 New Town Ave). The purpose of this popular event is to raise funds for young women affected by breast cancer. The family-friendly event begins at 8:00 am with a health expo featuring the newly added screening and prevention village followed by a 1K Fun Run/Walk at 9:00 am and the 5K, a Colonial Road Runners Grand Prix Event, at 9:30 am. The expo will remain open throughout the event and the race will be followed by awards and refreshments at Sullivan Square.
We are hosting an expanded health expo featuring a screening and prevention village. We welcome our community partners to get involved!

You can be Here for the Girls with us! We invite you to create your own fundraiser to support young women with breast cancer. We call these events “Go Beyond Pink” because the funds are used to support survivors, not to raise awareness (signified by the color pink). Your fundraiser will help fund programs and services such as our annual weekend wellness retreat, monthly virtual support gatherings, and programs for women with metastatic breast cancer.
Fundraisers can be held anytime and anywhere -- breast cancer doesn’t just happen in October! Sell t-shirts, host an event and ask for donations, ask your employer to match employee donations, do a virtual run, or come up with your own fun idea! It’s easy to use your talent and passion to raise funds for the girls. We are here to help. Please email us at email@example.com for information on how you can get started, or click here to complete an interest form.
The Here for the Girls annual A Calendar to Live By features breast cancer survivors and their stories; tucked inside the calendar is A Guide to Caring for Yourself, which offers important health information on breast cancer, managing risk, early detection, healthy lifestyle choices, and other related topics. The funds we raise through this important project support our mission to improve the lives of young women affected by breast cancer.
A Calendar to Live By not only helps to fund our mission, it is also shared with our newest members (who are often newly diagnosed), so it therefore serves as an initial source for support and information for young survivors. The included breast health guide gives all women knowledge about breast health and information about reducing breast cancer risk. Our calendars are distributed not only to survivors, but also to members of the community at various events and health fairs.
The Annual Appeal is our year-end giving campaign that doubles donor dollars through December. Each year we invite matching angels to double the love by increasing the impact of donations. Like you, our donors hope for a cure for breast cancer in their lifetime because they know someone who has had the disease or have lost someone they love to it. Help us help these young women who have breast cancer by becoming a matching angel. Please contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org to learn more.
