Alicia's Thoughts on Gratitude:
I was raised in a Mexican-American household, meaning our holiday traditions always included food representing our culture and family. Every Thanksgiving morning, we would make a big breakfast, but one item was always constant - homemade flour tortillas. My grandpa and grandma would make homemade flour tortillas, and eventually, they passed the recipe down to my family. Some of my best childhood memories are of making tortillas in the kitchen with my parents - it became a space for intentional time with all of us in the kitchen. I’ve now taught my boyfriend how to make them, and we’ve spent many mornings just eating tortillas and nothing else - while also treating our pup, Hopper, to just a few!
No matter how you celebrate or spend the holiday season, I hope you have the opportunity to see loved ones, take a restful moment, treat yourself, or try your hand at making tortillas! I’m so grateful for you all and hope the season brings what you need.
