Dear H4TG Friends,
Take a moment to think about a time in your life when you faced uncertainty. We all have! What moved you out of that feeling and empowered you to become stronger, confident, able to take back control, even if it was just a little. It’s important to each of us to live a life with a sense of control. And when we do not, we know that it takes perseverance to make it happen.
Hearing the words, “you have cancer,” throws anyone into a world of uncertainty, leads to a loss of control and fear; it takes a tremendous level of determination to move forward. Our members do just that, they face the diagnosis head on and begin a personal journey where a promise, gratitude, and self-love help guide their future.
It starts with a promise, a personal commitment to take control, and although that does not mean they are always strong, they strive to feel strong. Our members see life through a lens of gratitude and embrace what is good in their lives. Most times, this gratitude is tied to the simple things like a sunset. Finally, and most importantly, it takes a tremendous amount of self-love – this type of love allows a person to treat themselves with kindness and respect, forgive what is not perfect, and remain open to the changes they face. From this they draw the strength to be empowered and take back the control.
This month, in honor of "Women's History Month", we acknowledge the empowerment demonstrated by the young women at H4TG. The 2022 theme is "Women Providing Healing, Promoting Hope." Let's join together in celebrating all young women living with breast cancer – CELEBRATE their promise of commitment | CELEBRATE their gift of gratitude | CELEBRATE the LOVE they have for themselves and watch them persevere.
Healthy Hugs,
Chris Schwab, Executive Director
