Dear Friends of H4TG,
What happens when you are inspired? Does it lead to a new idea, a feeling of enthusiasm, or perhaps a desire to make a difference? Inspired is the 2021 theme for our organization and A Calendar to Live By. There are many things that inspire us at H4TG to continue our mission of supporting young women with breast cancer – a word, an image, or even an experience.
This month let’s start with how words bring us inspiration. Words have power; they carry enormous weight in how we communicate our thoughts, emotions, and beliefs. Our 2021 Calendar Ambassadors each shared a word (see the list below from each calendar month representative) that helped them move forward through their breast cancer journey. It is in the power of their words, like courage, determined, and illuminating, that we draw inspiration to be here for them so that they are not alone.
Words also give life to ideas. If I asked you to choose one word that best describes you, holds the most meaning in your life right now – what word would you choose? It may be a word that meant nothing to you a year ago, but now makes perfect sense and reflects a deeper truth of your heart.
The word I would choose is “Reflection.” Amidst all the challenges of 2020, I took the opportunity to spend quiet moments in careful thought, to reflect. I learned quite a bit about myself, in both my personal and professional life – what I do well plus things I would like to “tweak.” As I move forward into 2021, it is important to me to keep at the forefront of my mind all that I have learned and turn my “reflection” into meaningful, effective, and positive action.
