Time to Check In and Recommit to Your Mantra and Goals!
Remember back in January when we were all full of fresh starts? (February for those of you following along with the blog series!) Maybe you picked a word for the year, set a few goals, or simply promised yourself you'd be a little kinder to yourself. If you're living with breast cancer, those intentions may have looked very different than someone else's, and that's okay. Life has a way of changing the script, especially when appointments, treatments, scans, and recovery become part of your everyday reality.
Now that we're halfway through the year, this is a gentle invitation to check in with yourself. Not to judge how much you've accomplished or to feel guilty about the things that didn't happen, but to ask: Does my mantra still fit the life I'm living today? Maybe your word was "strength," but you've discovered that what you really needed was "rest." Maybe your goal was to exercise every day, but simply making it through treatment became the biggest victory of all. Growth isn't always about doing more—sometimes it's about giving yourself permission to do less.
One of the beautiful things about setting intentions and goals is that they aren't set in stone. You can change them, redefine them, or create a brand-new one whenever you need to. There are no rules that say you have to wait until January to begin again. Every single day offers another chance to choose what serves you best!
So take a moment and ask yourself, "What do I need most right now?" Let that answer become your new guide. Revise your mantra, your intention, your goals as you see fit. Because living well with breast cancer isn't about checking every box on a goal list. It's about honoring where you are, celebrating how far you've come, and giving yourself grace for the journey that's still unfolding. Feel free to share how you're doing and what changes you have made to your original mantra, intention, or goals. Let others support you in your journey. And don't forget to make the commitment today to Take Charge of Your Health and Wellness!!
