June 1, 2025

The Month of June is lovingly sponsored by David Bowditch

The theme of A Calendar to Live By 2025 is cherishingly dedicated to The Heart of the Matter. All 8 women showcase their candid and inspiring stories that offer their personal journeys, along with empowering advice for young women facing a recent diagnosis. The remaining months hold space for our amazing founders, self-care, and awareness. Read on to get to know more about our remarkable ambassadors of 2025.

H4TG Encourages You to Take Time for Self-Care!

Cancer affects not only the individual with a diagnosis but also family members, particularly caregivers. Studies show that relationships between cancer patients and family caregivers often struggle, with providing care often being prioritized over personal needs. Family caregivers also experience stress and burnout, leading to neglect of self-care. Self-care is crucial in caregiving, as it helps manage stress levels and physically care for one's own needs. Taking care of oneself can help provide effective care for loved ones and those in need.

Mental health can be improved by incorporating mindfulness techniques into our busy lives. These techniques can help address relationship quality, illness acceptance, reduce anxiety and depression symptoms, improve emotional regulation, increase self-compassion, and improve mental health. Mindfulness techniques can be applied anytime, anywhere, and can help improve emotional regulation, self-compassion, and mental health.

Take a moment:

All you need is a moment. When you are feeling overwhelmed, ask yourself…

What am I physically feeling right now? What do I physically see, smell, or hear?

It is important to note how different physical aspects feel in your current moment and situation. It is also helpful to concentrate on something you are grateful for, and this can be anything!

You can also try breathing exercises. Here is one we like…

Take a breath in through your nose while counting to 5, then hold your breath for 5 counts, and finally breathe out of your mouth while counting to 5. Try doing this 5 times.

Lastly, be mindful of when you need support and how to ask for it. Jot down a list to help visualize your needs. If your list includes further support such as someone to talk to or a plan for self-care, you can contact H4TG, and we can assist you further with the variety of free services we provide.
