LeTasha S. Robinson – Ms. July | Diagnosed at 39 (2020)
On 7/6/2020, I was diagnosed with breast cancer from what was termed a 'Bloody Nipple.' I remember being at work immobilized by those words and crying in a lactation room for privacy. This was not supposed to be a part of my story. What happened before the mastectomy of my left breast is a blur. On 09/02/2020 I walked into the hospital with two breasts and on 09/03/2020 walked out with one. Cancer is scary but, in many ways, it saved my life. Yes, it said saved my life. I grew up in foster care where I learned to be self-sufficient. When my surgeon refused surgery until I had a support plan it blew my mind. Having never depended on anyone, asking for help was scary. I thought I would be rejected, but instead found a 'Family.' I no longer had to fight alone. They were there to fight with me. While this journey has so many unknowns, I am comforted for once in my life, I had a support system to lean on. I am grateful for H4TG, and my Warrior Sister Family. They were there on 04/13/23 when my mammogram revealed suspicious signs. I didn't tell family or friends; I immediately told my Calendar sisters. They encouraged me not to give up. God never wanted us to be an island in this thing called life. I am surviving the storm called cancer and surviving it with grace.

MY WORD: I AM ACCEPTED.
