Ms. August – Ilesha Rembert (Diagnosed at 32, 2022)

Strength comes from within. It is important to take care of yourself while going through the phases of a breast cancer diagnosis. Do all the things that make you happy. Allow yourself to feel all the emotions. Reward yourself after completing treatments or surgeries. This may be a difficult journey but keep your head high and try to stay positive. Connect with others who can relate to your experience, so you don't feel alone or overwhelmed. It's important to know that your treatment plan may change multiple times, and that is totally normal. And that there are risks and complications with any type of treatment. I advise you to listen to your body and ask questions about anything that doesn't feel right. No question is a silly question regarding your health along your journey. I like to remind myself that I am more than cancer and there is no battle that I cannot endure. If it weren't for H4TG, I wouldn't have met some of the most wonderful ladies. H4TG provides a safe space for women to be themselves where others will understand them. It is important for women going through this journey to have other women to talk to who know exactly how they feel. H4TG feels like a family you never knew you needed.
