Ms. December – Candi Bradshaw (Diagnosed at 36, 2022)

I was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer on November 17, 2022. I did not know what to think, do, or feel, but I knew that I could not let that diagnosis define or overcome me. I got a double mastectomy after massive contemplation on whether I should get the surgery and decided to stay flat because I did not want any recurrence. I did not have to do chemo, but I struggled with guilt because of friends who were going through it; I had to have radiation for about a month and a half. All I can say is, wow, what a ride. I’ve never come more into myself than at this very moment. I chose to speak life into myself. I live unapologetically. I have faith that nothing happens for no reason, and why this happened to me. It most definitely was a game changer, but it brought me to meet some beautiful souls along the way. No matter what you may be going through, cancer, or whatever else, don’t EVER give up on yourself. Don’t ever let your mind take over so much that you are negatively thinking or speaking death upon yourself. If you’re not trying to live, then you’re with the wrong crowd because life is a choice. Always choose life and a ways choose you.
