April is lovingly sponsored by Ron Haggerty, MD

As we continue with our reflection on The Heart of the Matter, we invite you to explore the unique journey of our calendar ambassadors and learn more about what it truly means to be here for the girls. Our mission is grounded in compassionate support, emotional well-being, and the power of community. Together, we face breast cancer with strength, hope, and heart.
Ms. April, Beth Anne Francis (diagnosed at 48 in 2024): Cancer and luck aren't usually paired together
My story of early detection and knowing where to turn for support began with an annual mammogram in March 2024. Being told, "you have cancer," followed by "you're lucky," is a bit of a conundrum. Cancer and luck aren't usually paired together. I prefer fortunate—fortunate for annual mammograms and that the tumor was caught early.
With my mind racing, I listened to the first of many medical terms and explanations, trying to focus. It's overwhelming. I'm grateful my husband attended the appointment. When my nurse navigator asked me if I knew about H4TG, my mind didn’t clear or calm down, but I knew about this. I was very familiar with the group, as I had supported a previous calendar ambassador. H4TG was created for young women diagnosed with breast cancer to come together in love, support, and care. From diagnosis to recovery to reconstruction to survival, this sisterhood will hold your hand
and walk with you for as long as you need or want. When no one else understands your tears, fears, anger, frustration, anxiety, and countless other feelings and emotions about having breast cancer, THEY DO. For any young woman who has been diagnosed, I encourage you to reach out, go to an event, come to a meeting, and feel the love and care.
