August 2026: A Message from Our Executive Director

August 10, 2026

Dear Friends,

1 in 8. It is a statistic most of us have heard. But for Raquel, Ms. August, those three words became deeply personal the day she was diagnosed with breast cancer.

She connected with H4TG and felt something she didn't expect: sisterhood. A few months later, newly diagnosed and reaching out to become a member, she found that feeling again, and it became a lifeline.

"Every connection I make reminds me that life doesn't end with a cancer diagnosis. It evolves; it connects; it restores faith, hope, and love. It's not enough to survive cancer, you have to live."

We could not say it better ourselves. This is exactly why Here for the Girls exists, not just to walk alongside women through diagnosis and treatment, but to help them build a life that is full, connected, and their own. The real and raw wisdom of women who have walked this road before, the relationships that form in our support groups, the resources that help navigate the pearls and pitfalls of the diganosis, all of it is in service of one truth: you deserve to live, not just survive.

As we prepare for our annual Gala and the unveiling of A Calendar to Live By and A Guide to Caring for Yourself, we honor every woman whose story reminds us why this work matters. The women who have chosen to live fully, to show up for one another, and to be part of something bigger than a diagnosis.

To our newest members finding their footing, welcome. To our longtime community holding space for them, thank you.And to every woman who has ever thought I am 1 in 8, you are also 1 in a million, and we are so glad you are here!

Healthy Hugs,

Chris Schwab + The H4TG Team
